What’s the reason?
Hi, thank you for stopping by my little corner of the internet! You may have found your way here by way of my interior design page, the Reason for the Loom Instagram, or a Goggle search, but now matter how you got here, I’m glad you’re here!
My name is Katelaine McGee and I am born and bred in Dallas, Texas. The only time I’ve ever lived out side of Dallas is when I spent four years in College Station, Texas attending Texas A&M University! There, I met my handsome husband when his fraternity and my sorority were paired together for the Greek song and dance competition (Songfest for all of you Aggies!) We met my first month in college as very eager (but equally terrible) Salsa dance partners. We now have three spunky kids: Brooks, Shep, and Sloane. They keep us on our toes but we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Fast forward to January 2024 when I launched Reason for the Loom for a combination of reasons. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial thread in me and started various “businesses” in my growing up years ranging from sales of Happy Meal toys to a chocolate business—Golden Browns—with my cousin who lived in Oklahoma at the time (…what were we thinking honestly?) More recently, one of my dear friends, Elayna, encouraged me to pursue blending my also recently launched interior design business with textile production in the gorgeous Oushak rugs our friends all adored and in partnership with her art. She showed me the ropes on finding creditable international sources and I owe my business getting off the ground largely to her. My interior design business purpose is to bring beauty and peace to the homes of my clients. I aim to create a space for them to feel proud of to bring their loved ones into and a place for them to enjoy living their lives. Of course, my main “reason” is to support my family and show my kids the value of drive, determination, and a strong work ethic.
In trying to find the right name for my business, I kept coming back to my purposes for starting and it was always these special people who came to mind. So here is to them, my reasons, and here is to you, my newest reasons. Thank you for trusting me to bring beautiful and ethically created textiles into your home and life.
